###### 2 + 1 = 3
Your Heart's Desire Number is derived from the VOWELS (A, E, I, O, U ... and sometimes Y) of your FULL NAME at birth.

#### Example Calculation 1: John Winston Lennon

i] Assign a number from the chart to each VOWEL in your FULL BIRTH NAME. This should be done separately for your First Name, Middle Name (if you have one), and Last Name (surname)

ii] Add the numbers, and if needed, reduce them down until you have a single digit value
6 = 6
9 + 6 = 15 = 6
5 + 6 = 11
iii] Add these results together and again reduce until you have a single digit value to get your Heart's Desire/Soul Urge Number
John Lennon's Heart's Desire Number
= 6 + 6 + 11
= 23 = 5
Note: As in the above example, any time you encounter a Master Number (11, 22, or 33) in your calculation, do not reduce it any further.

Oprah Winfreys's Heart's Desire Number
= 7 + 1 + 5

1. I was on one site that added all of the numbers together for all of your names and then put them together. I came up with 11.. This site has you add up the numbers for each name separately and then add those together giving me a 2. Which one is correct? or should I consider both?

• Hi Lauren, it is up to you to decide which method of addition you want to stick with, but ultimately, regardless of whether your number is 38/2,29/2,20/2, or just straight up 11/2, your base single digit number is a 2 and it always will be : )

2. I'm completely shocked at how incredibly accurate my results were. That's amazing. I e never taken a test like that and had such accurate results.

3. What is the proper way for calculating these with two middle names? When I add up my middle names as individual names like (first + middle + middle + last) I get 8. When I add them as (first + middlemiddle + last) I get 7. I can’t find the proper way anywhere and am not sure if the formula the site uses is two middle name friendly since it doesn’t describe the proper way anywhere. Thank you in advance.

• Hi, first + middlemiddle + last would be the way to go, however, you should get the same single digit end result either way ... hmmm, unless perhaps there is a Y in your middle name that is being treated as a consonant or a vowel depending on the configuration. If you can provide us with your full name I can have a look and get back to you. You can email us at info@seventhlifepath.com

4. When they ask for full name what if you have a third name as well? For example If someone was named John Clifford Andrew Johnson would he ONLY put down John Clifford Johnson? Or would be also put down Andrew under Middle Name? I ask because in the past when I excluded my THIRD NAME the reading was more accurate. But I noticed when I included my THIRD NAME the reading was not very accurate.

• Hi Richard, you should technically use your FULL name given to you at birth ... so if you have two middle names you should use both of them for the readings.

5. Hi. Q about birth names. What surname do you use if you baby was listed in the hospital and born with the mother's name on the hospital card but on the birth certificate baby is registered with the father's name

• Hi Marilyn, use whatever the legal name of the baby is ... so whatever is on the birth certificate. But, if you are planning on changing it to the mother's name and use that as the legal name then go with that name instead.

6. Hi I am curious about the use of the letter y in my middle name Joy. Most times my soul urge number is revealed as 5 but recently I had it done and I was told it was 3? Any thoughts?
Thank you
Phyllis Joy

• Hi Phyllis,

This is always a somewhat of a contentious topic : ) Our calculators here treat the Y in Joy as a consonant because it more or less provides a soft J sound, much like in Toyota, or Yoda, Year, You … which results in a 5 as your Heart’s Desire Number.

However some would argue that in your case it should be treated as a vowel, because the Y forms a diphthong (two vowels forming one sound) like in TOY, or MONKEY. But this doesn’t always makes sense because if you look at the words TOY and MONKEY, the Y in TOY is again a soft J sound (much like in the examples above), while in MONKEY it is a long E (should be treated as a vowel). It is like pronouncing the words YEARS and EARS … there is a small but distinct difference.

Another examples are names like Maya or Kayo, the Y is treated a consonant. What about the word JOYOUS? If we say the Y here is a consonant would it not apply to your name JOY as well?

There are many examples we can look at that we can use either for or against this argument, especially once we get into pronunciations of words and names in different languages. In the end we leave the choice up to you, and that’s why we included the option to force the Y in your name be treated as a vowel or a consonant if you choose to do so.
Cheers ; )
