## How To Calculate Your Life Path Number

i] Take your date of birth, and separately reduce each; your MONTH, DAY, and YEAR to a single digit value.

Using February 27, 1976 as an example ...

###### February = 2 27 = 9 1976 = 23 = 5

ii] Add these 3 separate numbers to get your Life path number

###### 2 + 9 + 5 = 16

iii] Sometimes you will need to reduce the number once again to get your final single digit base value

###### 1 + 6 = 7

In such cases your Life Path Number is often written as 16/7 to indicate the higher double digit vibration from which your Life Path Number 7 was derived from.

Note: Any time you encounter a Master Number (11, 22, or 33) in your calculation, DO NOT reduce it any further.

### Master Numbers

Master Numbers 11, 22, and 33 are not to be reduced anytime they are found within the calculation, but are still written as 11/2, 22/4, and 33/6, just like any other Life Path Number would be to indicate both the single digit base number, as well as the double digit vibration from which that base number was derived from ... 16/7 for example 🙂

You will find that there are a few variations on how some people, and websites, calculate your Life Path Number. Most of the time, the results will be the same, however, when we come to the point of determining the double digit vibration for your Life Path Number, there are differences depending on the method of calculation used. This often results in questioning not only whether or not you might have a Master Number, but also several other numbers within your Numerology Chart, such as whether or not your Life Path also carries Karmic Debt .

#### Example Calculation

Date of Birth = July 29, 1964 = 7/29/1964

[i] Pythagorean or 3 Cycle Method
Month = 7
Day = 29 = 11
Year = 1964 = 20 = 2

7 + 11 + 2 = 20/2

7 + 2 + 9 + 1 + 9 + 6 + 4 = 38 = 11/2

[iii] Other Methods
7 + 29 + 1964 = 2000 = 2
The numbers representing your Month, Day, and Year of birth are used to calculate your Pinnacles, Challenges, and are ultimately responsible for each of your 3 Cycles. The Pythagorean Method relies on the idea that your Life Path is based on these cycles, and so it is sometimes called the 3 Cycle Method. It is these Cycles that are added together to form your Full Life Cycle … or your LIFE PATH.

Furthermore the Pythagorean Method is stricter and more selective in determining whether or not someone falls into the category of a Master Number, giving us a more realistic and even distribution of Master Numbers regardless of decades or centuries, the other methods do not.
For those who feel that the Pythagorean Method is somehow incorrect ... and this would include mostly those for whom this method does not produce a Master Number, keep in mind that most professional numerologists use this method exclusively, and see the other methods as being incorrect. Each aspect of your Numerology Chart is defined by a number ranging from 1 to 9. Your Life Path Number, although most influential, is but one of over 25 Numbers that together form your entire Numerology Chart, essentially providing us with a Numerology “blueprint” of YOU.

A Balance Chart can be used to visualize this blueprint, allowing us to better see which of the numbers 1 to 9 are more prevalent and dominant within your chart. This can often be helpful in explaining why some people don’t always relate to a definition of their Life Path Number, or perhaps the meaning behind their Expression and Heart’s Desire Numbers.

As a simple example, if your Life Path Number is a 6, but the rest of your numbers are all 9s, you will find yourself relating more to the Number 9. In this case, the Number 9 would be the dominant and influential force within your overall Numerology Chart.

Additionally, because this blueprint is based on many different aspects of your Numerology Chart, it is very unlikely to meet a person with the same exact blueprint as yours.

If interested, a Balance Chart is included along with your Core Number calculations and definitions in a free Numerology Chart Summary.

FREE Repeating Numbers Handbook

1. Hello, my birthday is 2/12/1961. That equals 22/4. By at least one method, that makes me a 22. But I understand that it depends upon the order in which the numbers are broken down whether the 22 is broken down to 4. Can you help me understand this and tell me which am I?

• Hi Pat, for your birthdate ...
2 = 2
12 = 3
1961 = 17 = 8
Your life path number = 2 + 3 + 8 = 13/4 not 22/4 ... hope that makes sense : )

2. Trying to get the hang of this 3-26-1978 Whats my number?

3. I got a question mine is 4/22/69. What is my number.

• Hi Bobby,
4 = 4
22 stays 22 ... because it is a master number it is not reduced to a 4
1969 = 25 = 7
Your life path number = 4 + 22 + 7 = 33/6

4. My birthday is August 30th, 1978.
Sorry.. I'm trying to figure out how the two numbers happen! My Friend just said he is a 33/6.

• Hi Lianne, in your case ...
august = 8
30 = 3
1978 = 25 = 7
Your lifepath number = 8 + 3 + 7 = 18 = 9

5. Hi -- similar question I think to some above, but why isn't January 1, 1991 a 22 or 22/4?

• Hi Tom, unless it is a master number, each number is reduced to a single digit value, then added up to get your life path ...
Jan = 1
01 = 1
1991 = 20 = 2
Life path number = 1 + 1 + 2 = 4

6. Hi, my birthday is August 3rd 1975. Am I a master number 33? I’m so confused, thanks for your help!

• Hi Kelly,
Aug = 8
03 = 3
1975 = 22 (master numbers are not reduced within the calculation)
Your life path number = 8 + 3 + 22 = 33/6

7. Hi,

My date of birth is: January 11, 1974 so my life path is 33 = 11+ 1 + 21, right?
so why your calculator indicates 6 ?

• Hi Izabella ...
Jan = 1
11 = 11 (master numbers are not reduced within the calculation)
1974 = 21 = 3
Your life path number = 1 + 11 + 3 = 15/6 not 33/6 ... hope that helps : )

8. Pl.tell date of birth of child born after midnight and before sunrise to be reckoned as date of previous day or date after sunrise.

9. Hi, my name is Cathy my dob is 11/15/1976 & my daughter's is 5/12/2010. Can you please help me calculate? Not sure which method to use. Thank you so much! ?

• Hi Cathy,
For your birthdate - 11/15/1976 ...
11 = 11 (master numbers are not reduced any further within the calculation)
15 = 6
1976 = 23 = 5
Your life path number = 11 + 6 + 5 = 22 ... written as 22/4 as your base number is still a 4, with your higher double digit vibration being the master number 22

For your daughter's birthdate - 5/12/2010 ...
5 = 5
12 = 3
2010 = 3
Her life path number = 5 + 3 + 3 = 11/2 ... 2 is her base with master number 11 as her higher double digit vibration : )

10. Hey, so I had a question about the third method. This is the method I myself prefer to use when calculating the life path. I like to use this method because this method along with the others that are not the three cycle one gives me the same number. However, I had a question about the calculation in regards to other dates. More specifically, master numbers. I did my family's calculations for their life path number using the third method and it says that we all have the same master number in our life path but that doesn't seem right. Can you tell me when is the appropriate time to decide when a master number is the answer or keep adding past in? For example,

When the birthday is May 15, 2001. 05/15/2001. If I add this up using the third method, it's 5+1+5+2+0+0+1. However, during the calculation process, I get 5+1+5 = 11. According to the rule of the master numbers and the third method, does this mean that this person has the life path of number 11? Or do I still need to keep adding, getting 5+1+5+2+0+0+1 = 14 = 5, making 5 their actual life path? Please help me figure this out.

Corey

• Hi Corey,

I’m going to repeat my answer from below : ) …

I know this is always asked by people who would like to know if they have a master number, but if you’re not using the Pythagorean method, and are trying to get master numbers 22 and particularly 33, it will be very difficult to get those using any other method now that we are in the 2000s. The Pythagorean method is the only one that is always consistent in the results regardless what decade or century we are looking at.
Free numerology statistical analysis is available at this site - https://numerologyworx.com/life-path-number-statistics/

Also the difference in the results would differ only for the double digit values … so someone might be a master number 33/6 by one method and 15/6 by another, however the single digit value is always the same regardless of how you go about calculating it.

For the birthday May 15, 2001 ...

Pythagorean method (should always use this one)
May = 5
15 = 6
2001 = 3
Your life path = 5 + 6 + 3 = 14 = 5

Other methods
5 + 15 + 2001 = 2021 = 5

OR
5 + 1 + 5 + 2 + 0 + 0 + 1 = 14 = 5
